Benilde Fun Run Unites Community, Gathers Thousands, and Raises ₱1 Million for Benilde Hope Scholars

The spirit of community, generosity, and Benildean pride came alive at the Benilde Fun Run held on May 19, 2024, at Aseana City, Parañaque, as the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde community came together for a meaningful and high-energy morning of purpose and celebration. More than just a fitness event, the Fun Run became a powerful expression of solidarity, bringing together over two thousand attendees, including a strong gathering of more than a thousand alumni, alongside students, employees, administrators, members of the Lasallian family, corporate partners, sponsors, and friends of Benilde. It was a vibrant and unforgettable gathering marked by joy, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to a cause greater than themselves.

From the early hours of the day, the atmosphere was already filled with excitement and anticipation as participants arrived in waves, proudly wearing their race kits and carrying with them the energy and school pride that made the event truly special. The Fun Run was not only a celebration of movement and wellness, but also a celebration of connection—an opportunity for Benildeans from different generations and sectors of the community to gather in one space, reconnect with one another, and rally behind a mission that matters. Alumni reunited with fellow graduates and former classmates, students ran beside mentors and colleagues, and the larger Benilde family stood together in a strong and visible show of support.

One of the most meaningful highlights of the event was the remarkable presence of the alumni community. The gathering of more than one thousand alumni made the Fun Run even more significant, demonstrating the enduring strength of the Benilde Alumni Association and the powerful bond that continues to connect Benildeans long after graduation. Their presence transformed the event into more than just a school activity. It became a true homecoming in motion—one that celebrated not only health and fitness, but also loyalty, belonging, and the lifelong connection shared by the alumni community. This strong alumni turnout underscored the relevance and growing impact of the Association in mobilizing support, inspiring participation, and creating initiatives that unite Benildeans around shared values and meaningful causes.

What made the event even more extraordinary was the announcement that the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Alumni Association successfully raised and donated ₱1 million pesos to the Benilde Hope Scholars program. This remarkable contribution stands as a major milestone and a powerful testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with generosity and purpose. Through the unwavering support of the alumni community, along with the valuable backing of corporate partners and sponsors, the Association was able to turn the momentum of the Fun Run into a concrete and life-changing contribution that will help support deserving Benildean scholars in pursuing their education.

The ₱1 million donation is more than a financial contribution. It is a bold statement of faith in the transformative power of education and a sincere investment in the future of Benildean students. Through the Benilde Hope Scholars program, deserving students are given the opportunity to continue their studies and pursue their dreams despite financial challenges. The contribution made possible through the Fun Run affirms the Association’s commitment not only to alumni engagement, but also to service, inclusion, and educational access. It proves that when Benildeans come together, their collective effort can open doors, uplift lives, and create lasting impact for the next generation.

The success of the Benilde Fun Run was also made possible by the strong collaboration among the many sectors of the Benilde community. The participation of students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and friends created a dynamic and inspiring event atmosphere that reflected the very best of the Benildean spirit. There was a clear sense of joy in the air—people cheering each other on, reconnecting after years apart, supporting the cause, and simply enjoying the experience of being together for something meaningful. It was a celebration of wellness, generosity, and unity all at once, proving that the strongest communities are those that show up not only in moments of success, but also in moments of service.

Corporate partners and sponsors also played an important role in helping make the event and the donation possible. Their support added another layer of significance to the Fun Run, showing how institutional partnerships can be aligned with causes that create real social value. By standing with the Benilde Alumni Association and the Benilde community, these partners became part of a larger movement that supports education and empowers scholars through concrete action. Their involvement helped amplify the impact of the event and reinforced the idea that transformative initiatives are built through collaboration, shared purpose, and collective goodwill.

Beyond the numbers, the Benilde Fun Run was a strong reflection of what the Benilde Alumni Association continues to represent. It is not only an organization that keeps alumni connected; it is a force that mobilizes the community, builds meaningful platforms for engagement, and channels that energy into initiatives that matter. The Fun Run showcased how alumni engagement can go beyond reunions and celebrations. It can become a strategic and heartfelt expression of service—one that benefits students, strengthens the institution, and deepens the sense of purpose within the community. In this event, the Alumni Association once again demonstrated that alumni are not only part of Benilde’s history, but also active builders of its future.

As the community looks back on the success of the Benilde Fun Run 2024, there is much to celebrate and even more to be grateful for. The event gathered thousands, energized the community, strengthened relationships, and generated a significant contribution for the Benilde Hope Scholars. It was an inspiring reminder that every step taken together can lead to something far bigger than the event itself. It can become hope for a scholar, a chance for a student, and a powerful reflection of what a united Benildean community can accomplish.

With hearts full of gratitude, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Alumni Association thanks all Benilde alumni, students, employees, administrators, members of the Lasallian family, friends, corporate partners, and sponsors who made the Fun Run a phenomenal success. Your support, participation, and generosity helped create not only a memorable event, but a meaningful legacy of giving.

As excitement already builds for the next Benilde Fun Run in 2025, the success of this year’s event sets a strong benchmark for what is possible when community, purpose, and action come together. The road ahead is bright, and the Benildean spirit continues to move forward—stronger, more united, and more committed than ever to making a difference.

Benilde MMA 25th Anniversary: A Grand Gathering of Alumni, Professors, and Creative Legacy

Last September 20, 2024, the Benilde Multimedia Arts Program marked its 25th Anniversary with a vibrant and meaningful celebration that brought together generations of alumni, former professors, students, and members of the Benilde creative community. More than a milestone event, it was a joyful homecoming that honored the legacy, growth, and enduring impact of one of Benilde’s most dynamic and influential programs. The celebration became a powerful reminder of how the MMA community has remained strong through the years, united by creativity, friendship, shared memories, and deep Benildean pride.

The event was made even more special through the strong support of the Benilde Alumni Association, which proudly sponsored ₱200,000 worth of production support for the celebration, covering key event requirements such as lights, sounds, LED, and stage setup. This meaningful contribution helped bring the anniversary celebration to life and reflected the Association’s continued commitment to supporting Benilde programs, milestone events, and communities that have shaped generations of Benildeans. More than sponsorship, it was a sincere expression of alumni giving back to a program that has produced so many talented and inspiring creatives.

One of the most memorable highlights of the celebration was the gathering of many Benilde MMA alumni and past professors, all coming together in one space to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the journey of the program over the last 25 years. The event was filled with warmth, energy, and joy as members of the MMA community shared stories, laughter, and appreciation for the people and experiences that helped shape them. It was not simply an anniversary celebration. It was a true reunion of artists, creators, mentors, classmates, and friends who continue to carry the spirit of MMA wherever they go.

Special recognition goes to Ms. Santiano, a proud alumna of the Benilde MMA Program, Batch 102, whose presence and contribution made the celebration even more meaningful. Her involvement reflects the strong connection that many Benilde MMA alumni continue to have with the program and with the wider Benilde community. It is this enduring sense of pride and belonging that makes gatherings like this so powerful, where alumni do not simply return to remember the past, but also come back to celebrate, support, and strengthen the legacy of the program for future generations.

The atmosphere of the event was both festive and heartfelt. Every part of the celebration reflected the bold, expressive, and creative spirit that the Multimedia Arts Program is known for. From the dynamic production setup to the happy reunion of familiar faces, the event captured what makes MMA truly special: talent, passion, collaboration, innovation, and community. It was a celebration not only of the program’s achievements, but also of the people who built it, believed in it, and continue to champion it.

The Benilde Alumni Association also extends its gratitude to the event partners and production providers who helped make the celebration possible, including Volume 10 and Ariel Ritz for their support in LED, lights, sounds, and staging. Their contributions helped create an event experience worthy of such a meaningful milestone in the history of the program.

As the Benilde Multimedia Arts Program celebrates 25 years of creativity, excellence, and impact, this anniversary stands as a proud testament to the strength of its community. The gathering of alumni, professors, and creatives made the moment even more unforgettable, proving that MMA is more than just a program. It is a legacy, a family, and a thriving creative force that continues to shape lives and inspire generations.

Congratulations to the Benilde Multimedia Arts Program on its 25th Anniversary.

The Association was honored to receive Dr. Maria Glenda De Lara, Dir. Bryan Dayuta, Dir. Jenny Malitao, Ms. Ma. Lean N. Sicada, and Ms. Lorraine Anne D. Bukas of Philippine Normal University. Their presence highlighted the value of collaboration among academic institutions that share the same commitment to strengthening alumni relations and building systems that create lasting impact beyond graduation. The benchmarking activity served as a productive platform for dialogue, sharing of best practices, and meaningful conversations on how alumni associations can become stronger partners in institutional growth, community-building, and lifelong engagement.

Over the years, the Benilde Alumni Association has continued to position itself as more than just an alumni office or network. It has evolved into a strategic and active community that nurtures lifelong connection, school pride, service, and shared purpose among Benildeans across different generations. Through its programs, events, partnerships, alumni database initiatives, homecomings, recognition activities, chapter development efforts, and support for institutional initiatives, the Association has demonstrated that alumni relations can be both meaningful and transformational. It is this kind of direction and commitment that has made the Association a valuable benchmark for other institutions seeking to strengthen their own alumni ecosystems.

Benilde Launches Inaugural Recognition Night Honoring Benildean Licensure Topnotchers

    15 August 2024

In a meaningful celebration of excellence, pride, and shared achievement, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde held its first-ever Recognition Night for Benildean Licensure Topnotchers on August 6, 2024 at Hotel Benilde. The event marked the beginning of what is envisioned to be a lasting tradition that honors alumni who have brought pride to the Benildean community through outstanding performance in their respective licensure examinations.

Set against the backdrop of the nation’s celebration of Filipino excellence, the evening became a tribute to Benildeans who proved that hard work, resilience, and purpose can lead to remarkable achievement. More than a recognition program, the event was a proud gathering of alumni, mentors, academic leaders, and members of the Benilde community, all united in celebrating those who carried the Benildean name with distinction.

In his opening remarks, Benilde President Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC likened the honorees to modern-day champions, drawing inspiration from the country’s celebration of athletes and achievers. He emphasized that the accomplishments of Benilde’s topnotchers are a source of pride for the entire institution and a reflection of the perseverance, discipline, and excellence that Benilde continues to nurture in its students and graduates.

A highlight of the evening was the message shared by Nathaniel K. Liu, Benilde’s most recent top achiever in the June 2024 Architecture Licensure Examination. Speaking with honesty and gratitude, Liu reflected on his journey toward becoming a Benildean architect and paid tribute to the mentors, family members, and fellow Benildeans who helped shape his path. He fondly recalled how his decision to pursue Architecture at Benilde was strengthened by an earlier connection with Architect Nielsen Bryan C. Uy, a fellow Benildean topnotcher whose story inspired him to take the leap.

Liu also spoke about the creative and empowering environment he found in Benilde, describing the College as a place that encouraged him to think boldly, grow meaningfully, and pursue his craft with purpose. His reflections served as a reminder that while board examinations are milestones worth celebrating, the true value of education lies in how one uses knowledge, talent, and opportunity to contribute to others and to one’s community.

These incentives reflect the College’s strong commitment to honoring excellence and encouraging future generations of Benildeans to pursue distinction in their chosen professions.

In his closing message, Chancellor Benhur Ong underscored that these achievements represent more than academic or professional success. They are a reflection of the values, discipline, and determination that define the Benildean spirit. He also encouraged the honorees to continue giving back by inspiring, mentoring, and supporting fellow Benildeans who hope to follow in their footsteps.

For the Benilde Alumni community, the inaugural Recognition Night was more than a celebration of board exam success. It was a powerful affirmation that Benildean alumni continue to raise the standard of excellence in their fields, and that their victories are victories shared by the entire community. As this new tradition takes root, it strengthens the bond between the College and its graduates and reminds every Benildean that achievement, when grounded in purpose and service, becomes part of a legacy that uplifts many.
